LUMACHELLA. The Lumachella marble, from Carinthia, thus called because it is a mixture of white, grey, and black spots, in the form of snail-shaped shells. It is a very rare dark-brown fossil marble variety containing small, iridescent opal-like snails (lumachella means “little snail”) and characterized by a brilliant iridescence or chatoyant madrepore reflection from within.

Proveniente dalla Carinzia, deve il suo nome alla forma di conchiglie che assumono le sue sfumature di bianco, grigio e nero. E' un tipo di marmo fossile molto raro che contiene piccole lumache che gli conferiscono un aspetto opalescente con delle iridescenze brillanti che sono molto particolari.
